here is an drawing of my old cel phone. it is challenging to draw these normal things. In the future people will look upon these drawings and wonder what exactly this was. The ancient mayan people created a language of pictographs, that was lost. No one alive or dead knew how to read it or what it all ment. The pictographs represented sounds and words. so somehow people of this age are able to actually speak words that were lost to human ears. now if this age comes to an end and we go into a dark ages again, all this knowledge could potentially be lost. Computer data is a temporary form of storage. I have some old files from 1997 that I can still read, but only on a mac, in certain programs. if those companies go out of business that data will be lost. Look at the edison cylinders, recorded around the turn of last century. as the players break down the music on these is lost. now the concept of a record player is easy to reproduce. It is a needle connected to an amplifier,  then a speaker. all of these things are still being made. but who is to say the microchip will be still made 100 yrs from now? how about 200, or 1000 the age of egyptian writings. DIgital is a temporary solution

my link yesterday didn’t work out like I planned

the thumbnail doesn’t work

so when you click on the small version it doesn’t go to a large version

not sure where it went wrong

that is the problem with new software. it never works like the old soft ware…

instead of tweaking the interface and improving proformance, they usually ad new features, that may or may not work. and usually work slower. I do the same exact work I did ten years ago, on a machine that is four times faster, but it is just as slow as the old way, because the software is bloated. they need to make this stuff simpler and less complex, but stable.

a nintendo cartridge never freezes… why can’t a computer work like that?

maybe make two versions, a stable simple version, and a complicated fucked up version with a bunch of useless features like adding flash to illustrator, I am sure some people use that, but I don’t ever, so why do I need it?

anyway my first graphics computer was a mac II si with an 80 mb hard drive and 5 mb of ram

I have had the pleasure of watching my kids grow up, Even though they aren’t grown ups, they are pretty much out of the little kid realm. The thing to learn from kids is what they don’t know. Watching the grade school Christmas show, you see them come out barely staying on stage in kindergraten, but by second grade they get out there and sing thier asses off. They steel the show every year. They don’t know they can’t do it. They learn that and by seventh grade they barely make a sound and need microphones turned up all the way just to hear them. Adults are so self concious they don’t even try to sing. Karioke could only happen in bars where people get drunk enough to let thier guard down. Singing is a joyous thing. People should be allowed to sing more often. Church is an excuse to sing but even there people are terrified to take part. Art is an expression of the soul. Musicals are a lost art. We can make movies of anything with computer graphics, but we can’t make joy on a computer.
